What is an mTicket?

You can use mobile tickets on any Fire Island Ferries vessel or any Fire Island Water Taxi lateral route. Please verify your agency's full fare policies in advance of travel (Fire Island Ferries) or (Fire Island Water Taxi)

What types of tickets can I purchase via Mobile Ticketing?

Fire Island Ferries offers mobile tickets for each of it's current ticket offerings. Books of tickets will still need to be purchased at the ticket window or office. Fire Island Water Taxi offers mobile tickets for lateral fares only.

Do Mobile Tickets expire?

Yes, mobile tickets have a validity period of 180 days.

Will my tickets still work if I lose cell service?

Mobile tickets do not need cell or WIFI services to be activated, only to be purchased.

What happens if my device becomes inoperable (e.g. battery is dead) prior to being able to show my mobile ticket?

You are held responisble for having a mobile phone in good working order and usable prior to boarding. If your mobile phone is inoperable it is expected that you would use some otehr payment method for the journey.

I tried to reset my password and never recieved an email, what do I do?

It is possible that you only checked out as a guest when purchasing tickets, please create an account before continuing. Any tickets you purchased as a guest on that device should transfer once your account is verified.

Can Fire Island Water Taxi tickets be used on Fire Island Ferries?

Mobile tickets are only valid for the transportation type they are purchased for. They are not interchangeable.

How and when should I activate my ticket?

Tickets should be activated just prior to boarding the vessel. Tickets are only valid for a specific duration of time, activating a ticket before arriving at the dock may cause that ticket to become invalid. Tickets are activated from within the Ticket Wallet in the Fire Island mTickets app.

How does the crew know that I have a valid ticket?

Generally, the crew will verify tickets using visual inspection using the color coded barcode on the activated ticket. Hand-held devices will also be used to do spot inspection and to further verify tickets.

Do I need to setup an account to purchase mobile tickets?

Accounts are not required to purchase tickets, it is highly recommended though. Having an account will allow you to save your payment method allowing for a speedier transaction.

I am traveling with friends or family, can I activate more than one ticket?

Yes, the mobile ticketing app supports up to 12 maximum purchases per ticket type in a single purchase.
